APEC Policy Dialogue Toward Resilient Aging: Reducing Influenza Impact on APEC's Elderly
6 August 2025
4:30-6 PM KST
Songdo Convensia (Room TBC)
Incheon, Republic of Korea & Zoom
See agenda below
The rising burden of influenza among elderly populations necessitates enhanced prevention and control strategies to reduce hospitalizations, protect vulnerable groups, and ensure preparedness for outbreaks and pandemics.
This project aims to prevent influenza-related burden (e.g., preventable hospitalizations and deaths) amongst the elderly by promoting best practices for influenza surveillance and early detection, outbreak planning and response, vaccination, diagnosis, and treatment. By reducing burden in the elderly, economies will ultimately see broader social, economic, and health benefits.
Your participation will enrich discussions and contribute to actionable recommendations for member economies on issues such as:
The use of influenza vaccination and treatment programs that are targeted to the unique needs of older adults
Implementation of strategic outreach and public awareness programs that drive understanding of the burden of influenza and trust in countermeasures
Expansion of surveillance mechanisms to track influenza incidence, hospitalization, and mortality and effectively enable burden of disease estimation
